Some properties just need a complete reset. Not a patch here and a fix there - a full rethink of how the whole yard flows and functions. That's exactly what this Waconia property called for, and we came in ready to tackle it from the front beds all the way to the backyard and shoreline.
Out front, we built retaining walls for raised planting beds and installed clean block edging to give the beds a sharp, defined border. River rock fills the beds throughout, with new plants tucked in to add texture and life. The pavers along the front entry tie everything together and give the approach a finished, intentional look that the property was missing before.
In the back, we stacked natural boulder walls to manage the slope and create structure along the hillside near the foundation. Those boulders do more than look good - they hold the grade, reduce erosion, and make the area around the deck actually usable. We also landscaped down toward the water's edge, using block edging and rock to create a clean transition from the yard to the shoreline.
One of the more interesting elements on this job was the curved retaining wall beds we built around the trees near the street. Instead of leaving those tree bases as a mowing headache, we wrapped them with block walls, filled them with river rock and plants, and gave each one a finished look that holds up season after season with minimal maintenance.
When a yard has a lot going on - grade changes, multiple areas to address, a lakefront to work around - it takes a plan that connects all the pieces. Landscaping and hardscaping work best when they're designed together, and that's the approach we brought to this one.
