Here's what we were working with - a front yard that had a large arborvitae crowding the foundation, outdated landscape beds, and no real usable hardscape space to speak of. The area right off the front deck had zero flow. No defined entry, nothing connecting the deck to the driveway in a way that made sense. It was one of those situations where the bones of the property were solid, but the landscaping just wasn't doing it any favors.

We started by pulling that big arborvitae out of the picture entirely. That one change alone opened up the front of the house in a big way. From there, we laid a large paver patio that ties directly into the existing deck - giving the whole front of the home a grounded, intentional look. The warm rust and tan tones of the pavers work really well against the deep red siding on this house.

The border detail is something we pay close attention to on every hardscaping install. A dark charcoal paver border frames the entire field of the patio, which keeps the edges clean and gives the whole surface a finished, polished look. It's a small detail that makes a big difference - especially from the street.

On top of the paver work, we cleared out the old landscape beds along the foundation and refreshed them with clean rock and new block edging. Getting rid of the overgrown shrubs and replacing them with low-maintenance materials means this front yard stays looking sharp without a ton of upkeep year after year.

This is exactly the kind of project where landscaping and hardscaping work together. The patio adds function - real usable outdoor space. The refreshed beds and edging add structure and curb appeal. And removing that overgrown arborvitae let the house actually breathe again. End result is a front yard that finally matches the quality of the home behind it.
